Ann Arbor Gravel Hauler Accident

I saw a story on the news today about an Ann Arbor Gravel Hauler Accident on I-94. According to the Michigan State Police, the accident happened near Dancer Road, between Ann Arbor and Chelsea, when a gravel hauler pulled out of the construction lanes into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured and taken to the University of Michigan Medical Center where he is in critical condition. Police are still investigating this accident.

I am very sorry to hear about this accident and wish the driver a speedy and full recovery. I hope that he has no permanent deficits from this accident.

Our Michigan truck accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights.  For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured driver can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover his medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured party can claim these benefits even if he did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in the auto accident as well as the company that owns the gravel hauler.  The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, the injured party can claim damages and compensation for injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Wexford County Construction Zone Truck Accident

I read a story today about a serious Wexford County Construction Zone Truck Accident that occurred on US-131 just south of Cadillac. According to the Michigan State Police, a road construction worker was seriously injured when a box truck allegedly rammed into his truck in a construction zone.

State Police state that the box truck driver allegedly did not see a convoy of construction workers painting the lines on the roadway. The worker was taken to the hospital with a possible head injury.

I am very sorry to hear about this accident and wish the worker the fullest and speediest recovery possible.

Michigan truck accident victims have a number of legal rights.  As this accident happened while he was working and involved a motor vehicle,  the road construction worker may be eligible to receive Michigan Workers Compensation benefits and Michigan No-Fault Benefits. These benefits are similar in that they would cover  his medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.

In addition, the injury victim may be able to file a lawsuit against the driver and the owner of the box truck. In this lawsuit, they could claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

The road construction worker should speak with an experienced Michigan Accident Lawyer to determine which  benefits he is eligible to receive. Accident victims should not speak with an insurance adjuster for the negligent parties before consulting with an attorney.

Tanker Truck Exploosion in Hazel Park

I saw on the news this morning the story on the Tanker Truck Explosion in Hazel Park last night on I-75.  Thankfully, there were no fatalities. Michigan State Police believe that a 27-year-old Clawson man apparently lost control of his car while driving about 70 m.p.h. in a curve on the expressway, which has a suggested speed limit of 50 m.p.h. He swerved into the tanker truck, driven by a 45-year-old Armada man.

The cab and the trailer separated as the tanker, carrying 9,600 gallons of gasoline and 4,600 gallons of diesel fuel, crashed.  The truck exploded as a result. State police confirmed that the fire was so hot it caused the 9 MIle Road overpass to collapse. No one was injured when the bridge collapsed.

Police further stated that at time of the accident, thick black smoke billowed from the scene and flames shot up 150 to 200 feet, snarling traffic on both sides. Authorities advised the thousands of commuters heading for work this morning to look for alternative routes. That section of I-75 — from 8 Mile to I-696 — carries an average of more than 160,000 vehicles a day, according to state traffic counts. It remains closed at the time of this article.
